Tips To Help You Lose Weight & Common Reasons You Aren't

It's summertime. We all want to look our best in the season of tiny clothes. I've struggled with weight my entire life and finally have figured out why. 

YOU'RE NOT A FISH!
How much water do you consume each day? Chances are; not enough. Forget about the stereotypical 8 glasses a day. The truth is; you might not need that much water. Forcing eight glasses a day is not the way to go about consuming water. Yes, you benefit your body by drinking water; but only when you're thirsty. Instead of tracking how much you have or haven't had each day; grab for water when your thirsty over any other beverage. 

WALKING YOUR POOCH IS NOT ENOUGH!
Working out is a big one. There are ways to lose weight without being active, but that is in no way effective over time. To get the most out of your journey, be sure to exercise at least 3 hours a week. It takes the normal person about 15-20 minutes in order to begin burning fat. On that note, make sure you are burning the bad fats. Eating a light snack or exercising after a meal is actually more effective. Yes, you should eat in order to burn. If you have an empty stomach, you body will pull from muscle fat and leave you that much more dissatisfied with your results.

DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST! 
Along the same lines, eating is key in order to lose weight. Portion control is a factor, but eating too little will make you take a few steps backwards. If your body doesn't feel like it's getting enough, it will go into starvation mode and hold onto fat. Not only will your body be upset, but this can cause you to overcompensate when it comes to your next meal. Three well balanced meals and a snack in between should keep you at bay all day.

In today's world, we have many options to kick out pure fat foods. Skip the low fat, the fat free, and the can't believe it's not real foods. Full fat products are actually better for you. If you're choosing to eat better, eat better. Low fat or altered foods contain fillers and/or fake products that are placed to fix taste. More than not, these fillers aren't great for you. 


TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF!
One thing that will always motivate me is myself. If you're avoiding your reflection, wearing baggy clothes or ignoring a scale; STOP! Your biggest critic is yourself and you wouldn't want to disappoint. Regularly checking your weight & image is just fine. Due to the fact that some people can obsess over these things, they're unrealistically frowned upon. If you can't see what you want to change, how will you change it? I check the scale two or three times a week and write down every exercise and meal. This allows me to look back at my progress but also keep my eye on the ball. Begin a weight loss journal and document everything. You'll enjoy seeing how far you've come and it'll open your eyes to mistakes you should change.
